Design Philosophy

We approach architectural design solutions as a process that begins with the development of an "idea" concept that will be subjected to rigorous testing. Problem-solving is very much an integral part of the design process. We deal with pragmatic as well as aesthetic concerns, but in the end, the proposed design solution is expected to reach beyond utilitarian considerations and stand as an artistic statement of timeless value.

Friedrich St.Florian will be responsible for the design and direct the team and design effort from beginning to end. The client becomes part of the team whose unique needs and expertise are recognized and whose input becomes part of the solution.

The office of Friedrich St.Florian Architect is currently working on the construction of the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Projects recently completed include Providence Place, a $450 million regional shopping and entertainment center in Providence, the pedestrian Providence Skybridge, which frames the entrance to the city, and Anglesea, a $5 million restoration of a historic Newport, Rhode Island mansion.
