St.Florian Residence
PROVIDENCE, RI
Completed 1989.
A jewelry box like structure occupies a small lot on the East side of Providence. The design seeks to balance the mandate of integration into a historic neighborhood with the desire to be contemporary.
Designed and built with a shoe-string budget, the residence is necessarily minimal in form and appearance. The emphasis is on its interior that features an open plan on the ground floor with a two story living / dining / entertaining area. Flooded with overhead light, it offers a welcoming oasis for its owners. An urban roof garden compensates for the smallness of the site.
